Yet Another Way to Risk it All
Yes, thats right, another FSBO website in the USA. This time one that potentially allows buyers to never see the house before buying it. Apparently the site RealUmbrella.com will allow users to complete the entire buying process online.
I believe this goes back to the old medical metaphor. Would you let someone who isn’t a doctor perform open heart surgery on you? No. So why would you buy a house without the advice of an expert? People have no idea just how much work a realtor does to protect you, use one! You won’t realize the value behind it until something goes wrong, and then you will be sorry you didn’t.
You can read the RealUmbrella story here.

howrealtorshelp.ca
If there has ever been a question concerning the benefits of using a realtor, the Canadian Real Estate Association has answered it on their new site howrealtorshelp.ca. The new site is aimed at informing the Canadian consumer about the benefits of using a realtor in both buying and selling circumstances. With categories ranging from “dream home checklist” to “go it alone or use a realtor?” the site is an informative portal on why to use a professional and what to expect when buying or selling your home.
The site uses a flash technology that makes it completely interactive, right down to a video tour guide who even taps her fingers while waiting for you to make a decision. Don’t worry though, she is very patient.
If you are even thinking about buying or selling a home in the near future, this site is a must see, even if you are already familiar with how a realtor helps.

Condo Review Ltd.
I just had a fantastic conversation with Valerie Davis, owner of Condo Review Ltd. about the advantages of using a company like hers to review condo documents before buying.
Condo Review is a company that will for a fee, review the piles of paper which one receives when they purchase a condo. Why are these documents important you may ask, because they cover everything from the rules of living in a common building to the amount of money that is set aside should something need to be repaired. These documents of course are often hard to understand unless you are a lawyer or a very well versed realtor. It is important however, that these documents are scrutinized thoroughly as they can mean the difference between getting a very good deal on a condo and getting absolutely ripped off.
Using the services of someone like Valerie is a must in my opinion. Her contact info can be found to the right in the preferred trading partners section.
